Police arrest 2 fifth-graders on drug charges - WTHR | Indianapolis

Two fifth graders were arrested for dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana in Indianapolis. Parents from the area are shocked, one said "Why does your child have drugs? That's crazy." The reason kids have access to drugs, even at 10 and 11 is that drug dealers (real dealers not a couple of punk kids trying to be gangsta) don't care if they sell it to a 10 year old or a 20 year old, cash in hand is all they require.

I have said it many times, but I think it is worth saying again, if you want to keep marijuana out of the hands of kids the ONLY to do this with any sort of effectiveness is to legalize and regulate marijuana. Currently kids report having a much easier time getting their hands on marijuana than alcohol. With proper controls in place and hefty fines on stores that sell marijuana to underage kids marijuana use amongst kids will plummet.

Officer's lost wallet contained marijuana

Officer's lost wallet contained marijuana

Time for this guy to join LEAP. I hate to see anyone arrested for simple possession, but when its a cop, I can't help but suppress a giggle. Hopefully this helps to push back the stereotype of the stoner who sits around all day. And who the heck was the knucklehead who mailed the wallet back with 6G's of weed in it, why not just keep it and spark up, or at least sell it?

Big Bust In London

London Free Press - Local News- Police uncover elaborate marijuana-growing scheme: Million dollar drug bust

London Free Press (London ON, Canada), reports that an elaborate drug bust took place on April 1st, and it appears its no April Fools Joke. The RCMP working in conjunction with the London Police took 1000 plants out of the house in which no one was living. Sounds like it was quite the sweet setup, too bad the LFPress.com video didn't show more details about how it was done.

London Free Press - Local News- Fire discloses pot grow-op

London Free Press - Local News- Fire discloses pot grow-op

Since this happened in my own back yard (not literally people, just that I am a fellow Londoner), I thought I should post this one. I do find it odd however that no one is saying how many plants there are. Cops are always ever so proud of how many plants they pull out of a grow op, super inflating their value to make them sound oh so heroic.

I find it amusing that everyone is shocked that a nice guy has a grow op. Do they really believe all the hype that everyone who has a grow op is a nasty gangster? People who smoke and even grow marijuana are every day people for the most part, we are your doctors, your car mechanics, your lawyers, your computer repair technicians, and yes even your teachers. The only reason organized crime has ANYTHING to do with marijuana is because of silly prohibition laws.

MPP Email

I receive email updates from the Marijuana Policy Project. Today I received an interesting one that seems to put a blemish on Obama's directive to stop harassing people for following state marijuana laws. Here is the email:

Yesterday, armed DEA agents stormed into Emmalyn's California Cannabis Clinic, a licensed medical marijuana facility in San Francisco. We have very few details at this point but MPP is concerned that the DEA may be testing the resolve of U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who recently announced a major shift in U.S. medical marijuana policy.

Please contact President Obama and demand an explanation for this Bush-era DEA raid!

According to a vague statement released by the DEA last night, this collective was not complying with state law and therefore wasn’t subject to the recent policy change.

However, the San Francisco Department of Public Health has issued a conditional permit to the collective, which was actively working with the city to obtain a permanent license. And, it appears that the San Francisco Police Department was not even notified of the raid or the alleged violation of state law.

To our knowledge, nobody has been arrested as of press time. MPP is still looking into this situation and will post any new developments on our blog.

Please don't forget to forward this alert to your friends and family so that they too can demand an explanation for this recent federal attack on medical marijuana.

Thank you for supporting MPP and taking action to protect medical marijuana patients and providers.

Sincerely,

Busted Marijuana Grow-Ops

London Ontario Busted Marijuana Grow-Ops

The London Free Press is publishing a google map with a listing of every place in which "The London Police Service has executed search warrants for production of a controlled substance". Somehow I wonder about the legality of this, or the morality. From the wording these are not places in which there are definately grow ops, just places that have been searched. Guilty or not they are being published and defamed as grow op operators. On the flip side it does give us all access to a list of possible providers of Mary Jane should our own stashes run dry.

It is an interesting little map listing the charges filed, what was found and some more useless info. If you are bored and want to check out the MJ action in London Ontario browse around it for a while. If you live in London even better you can search for your house and see what's near by.

You, too, can squeal on your nieghbour

You, too, can help bust a grow-op

*Yawn* aren't cops tired of sending out these press releases with the same tired old "tips for spotting a grow-op"?

If they really wanted to stop organized crime from running grow ops legalize the drug and make it legit. Organized crime would no longer profit from being involved and voila problem solved.

The Bourne Identity

My apologies to to Mr Ludlum for the article title, but given the circumstances of this CTV article how could I resist? A cop gets arrested for taking part in a drug trafficking ring, and his name is Bourne, come on, that's too easy. The only way it could have been more fitting is if his first name was Jason instead of Kevin.

Apparently the police aren't talking about how much marijuana was found, but with 20 people and two cops involved plus multiple locations for a total of 63 warrents, I would assume this is a biggy, perhaps they aren't saying how much yet because they aren't finished smoking.... I mean weighing it all yet.

Well price of our dear friend Mary Jane will probably jump up a bit in T.O., plus dealers will probably be dry for a bit. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery in the black market down there for all my Toronto readers.

Pizza Hut: Eat, Laugh, Share

A Fort Smith Arkansas Pizza Hut manager was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. Apparently Aaron Massey, the manager of a pizza hut in Fort Smith had been selling marijuana along with the pizza through the drive thru window. Now there’s a business idea with lots of potential.

Apparently Massey and other employees were smoking up while working someone complained. Investigators managed to find 6 ounces some scales in Massey’s briefcase.

This certainly casts Pizza Hut’s slogan of “Eat, Laugh, Share” in a different light now doesn’t it?

What Not To Do: Case #7

Taking out Classified Ads on a Public Website

Ok apparently today is the day for finding silly drug bust stories. This is also a case of a dealer using less then intelligent methods for finding clients for his marijuana sales business. Let me remind everyone marijuana is a banned substance, the penalties for selling marijuana are stiff, depending where you live. Advertising in any public way that you are breaking the law is a very dumb move. John Scott of Burlington County New Jersey learned this leason the hard way.

According to The Star Ledger, Scott took out a Craigslist ad advertising “420 shrubs for sale”. Note the clever use of the term 420 instead of marijuana or cannabis, surely no one but potheads would know what that means right? Wrong, of course cops know the terms we give in order to “disguise” pot use. 420 is a common term, very common.

In case you’ve lived under a rock and this is your first day surfing the tubes of the Interweb, well craigslist is a VERY well known classifieds ads site. People post free ads on the site and many people read those ads. Obviously the cops are on to this site and browse it from time to time too. In short caveat venditor, let the seller beware.

What Not To Do: Case #6

Barker Style Sales

So you’ve started university and want to subsidize your partying with a little drug trade on the side. Now you just need customers, where oh were do you find them?

According to the Boston Globe Michael Emery, a now ex student of Northeastern University in the United States, decided to advertise that he and his roommate Matthew Ferrante had marijuana for sale. He did this by yelling out his dorm window “If you're looking for weed, my roommate Ferrante has some for sale.” Now being as this is a university such things would probably go unnoticed, except for the fact that a plainclothes cop was within earshot. The police checked them out and these two students had alcohol and weed in plain sight, the two then allowed the cops to search the dorm and the cops found more weed.

The two are up on possession charges, and they have been turffed from the school. So remember class, when you are looking for customers to sell weed to don’t just go yelling out your window advertising that you have illegal substance available for sale, it’s likely to land you in a spot of trouble.

Canadian Boxer Recieves 2 Year Ban For Sparking Up

According to a Canadian Press article Marc Bourassa, a boxer, was suspended after testing positive for marijuana use. Apparently it is still up in the air if Bourassa will be able to keep his recently won title for defeating Adam Trupish. Bourassa received a two year ban and had his federal funding stripped for life. The article also mentioned that another unnamed boxer also tested positive but received only a warning.

First of all why are they testing for marijuana use anyways, sure it is an illegal substance, but as far as I know it does not enhance athletic ability in any way, if anything it is detrimental to athletic ability. Then there is the issue of one boxer getting a warning and another getting a harsh punishment. What is the point of having rules if you are only going to selectively enforce them? Granted it seems hypocritical of me to say such a thing when I have said before that anytime an officer of the law does not enforce the marijuana laws that it is a good thing, but still this is silly. Bourassa should fight this.

What Not To Do: Case #5

Post Pictures of Your Grow-Op on MySpace

So you have a mini grow op in your closet and want to brag about it, you have a MySpace page so why not do it there right? Police often monitor such sites, so don't do it. That is what an 18-year-old Sheboygan kid found out. This kid posted pictures on MySpace of his plants growing and police searched his house and discovered three plants in his closet. Come on people the internet may be unregulated for the most part but cops in the real world keep an eye on things, if you want to brag go to a pot forum and post anonymously, much harder to trace then a MySpace page.

What Not To Do: Case #4

Case #4 Growing Marijuana on Cop's Land

Ok This kid was only 17, so maybe he can be forgiven his blunder. That being said, who in their right mind would consider land owned by the Deputy Chief of Police to be a logical place for an outdoor grow spot. Sure the land was only and investment opportunity and not the cop's residence, but he was bound to spot the plants at some point.

Man Pleads Guilty to Growing Marijuana For Sick Wife

WDBJ Channel 7 in Virginia reports that a Scottsville man originally thought to have grown nearly five million dollars worth of marijuana actually only grew less then forty thousand dollars worth which he says was for his wife who has multiple sclerosis. The marijuana helps the woman deal with the side effects of her medication which makes her nauseous and unable to eat without the aid of marijuana. Virginia has no medicinal marijuana laws so this man could face thirty years in prison for making sure his wife was as healthy as he could.

Impressive Grow Op Found Out

According to Channel 10 News a San Diego County man was arrested for a sophisticated grow op. Apparently this grow op was accessed by hidden tunnels that could be accessed by a concealed elevator. The elevator was a closet sized elevator hidden in the garage of cabin, the elevator led down to a 4 foot wide 65 foot tunnel that led to a large irrigated grow room. Impressive design, yet he still got caught.

Man Gets Life In Prison For Marijuana Conviction

Ok, I know the U.S.A. is anal about drugs and all, but come on, life in prison? Sure the guy had more then five pounds, and operated a drug ring, but from what I have read he only had marijuana, nothing harder. Sure believe it or not it could have been worse, if he had been convicted under the Alabama State Drug Kingpin law he could have faced 25 years in prison before getting a chance at parole, now he is eligible in 7 years.

Police Raid London Compassion Society

The London Compassion Society was raided on Saturday in London Ontario, and police found 840 marijuana plants. The London Compassion Society is part of a network of groups offering marijuana to those with medical needs. While the organizations are not legal officially they are generally tolerated as long as they don't go overboard. The London Compassion Society states that in order to obtain marijuana from them they must provide proof of medical need. At this time I don't know what this proof consists of, but usually with this sort of organization a letter from a doctor confirming diagnosis is required.

Despite finding magic mushrooms, LSD, and cocaine I think this raid was a serious miscarriage of justice. It seems apparent that the London Compassion Society was doing more then they claimed with the additional drugs, but the bust was in relation to their marijuana activities, which should be allowed. If the government would stop harassing organizations like this and start going after actual criminals maybe things would be a little better. Organizations like the London Compassion Society should be regulated and legalized allowing medicinal marijuana users to obtain quality pot easily.

Marc Emery, one time London resident and its best known crusader for the legalization of pot, and known to all as The Prince Of Pot, was quick to make a statement on this raid saying, "It's clearly an injustice and clearly they're going to hurt people by this action. It's a terrible tragedy because otherwise people will be grubbing around on the streets" to get the pot they are legally entitled to.

According to Chief of Police Murray Falkner a grow op can be found within 15 minutes walking distance of any home. Tucker and Taz, the funny morning show hosts on FM96 suggest that we should make this London's new slogan, 15 minutes walk to a source of Pot "The Forest City". Great suggestion guys, now lets get a petition going to recommend this to city council.

What Not To Do: Case #3

Case #3: Reported Theft

According to the New Zealand Herald a woman made a call to the police to report a robbery. Apparently some "low-lifes" broke in to this good woman's home and robbed her. The objects stolen were, as she reported to a grinning officer, her three marijuana plants that she was growing outside. Ok people, marijuana is illegal, and the growth of the plants is as well, if you get robbed of your mary jane, do not report the theft to the police.

What Not To Do: Cases #1 & #2

What not to do is going to be an ongoing feature in this blog demonstrating the stupidity of some potheads in order to show the rest of you out there how to avoid jail time for your habit.

Case #1 Check The Barn Door

A Wisconsin man who stashed his pipe and weed in his underwear when he got his car stuck in a ditch and cops came to assist. When the man stepped out of his car they saw his fly undone and asked if he had anything illegal in his pants, they searched him and arrested him for possession. To top it off this bone head was driving when his license was revoked.

Case #2 Avoid Hitting Pigs

A South Carolina man hit a parked police car on a highway in Orangeburg. When the police examined the car they found 43lbs of marijuana, some joints, and some cocaine. He was charged with Driving under the influence, cocaine possession, and marijuana trafficking.
