Federal Eye - DEA identifies 3 agents killed in Afghanistan

Federal Eye - DEA identifies 3 agents killed in Afghanistan

Ok I am not going to say that these DEA agents had it coming or anything extremist like that, but I do have to wonder what these guys were doing in Afghanistan. DEA is a police agency, they have no rights to be in other countries period. It bothers me when I hear about DEA offices in countries other than the USofA, especially here in Canada. DEA stay on your own turf, get out of the business of trying to police the world, you have no rights to do so.

Emery To Surrender

The Prince of Pot is set to appear in BC Supreme Court to be taken into custody to serve his time in US prison. This miscarriage of justice is being carried out despite attempts by supporters to get the Canadian government to intervene on Emery's behalf.

The internets are alive with chatter about Emery today, some say he is a villain and others a martyr. Personally I think he's a Jack Ass that made some very poor choices and doesn't know when to shut up. That being said he should not be going to jail, especially not in the states. Stupidity is not a crime, nor is Jack Assery. The government should have charged Emery the second they got the "request" from the DEA to arrest Emery. That way Emery could not be extradited since under extradition treaties Canadian citizens cannot be charged for crimes they have already been punished here for. Charge him here, give him the traditional fine and slap on the wrist and tell the DEA to go take a flying leap off the nearest bridge.

Now that I am in full rant mode, I have to ask (AGAIN) why the hell does the DEA have offices on our soil. How does a foriegn police agency have ANY right to be here investigating US crimes and arresting Canadians. Sure they call the RCMP in to help out, but really come on, we should stop giving them permission to act as a police agency on our soil... where is our soverignty?

DEA Proud of Mexian Border Violence

The DEA is claiming that the increasing violence on the Mexican border is a sign of progress, and not that the war on drugs is faltering. I actually know what they are getting at, in some respects, that being said it is in extreme poor taste and is a very narrow vision viewpoint.

The claim is that since the Mexican government is taking the drug war seriously more crime is being reported and more bad guys are getting caught. In this respect they are correct. The problem is there would be no violence at all if drug laws were handled in a logical manner. The violence is a direct result of the US's lost before it began war on drugs. If America would stop acting as a World Police Force and drugs were handled by regulation instead of prohibition then the world would be a much more peaceful place.

I am not saying the drug gangsters are fine upstanding citizens that got caught up unfairly, they are thugs and hooligans, very very bad people. Hang 'em high, and let them dance the gallow's jig. But you can go in there with guns a blazin' and shoot anything that moves killing many innocents along the way as per the DEA's modus operandi, or you can steal their business from under their feet and force them to go straight or get nailed.

Is it just me, or am I begining to sound like a broken record? The solution is regulation and taxation, not prohibition and imprisonment.

Call in the Air Force The REAL Afghan Threat Spotted

In a dramatic case of overkill the RAF (Royal Air Force) was called in to do a special bombing in Afghanistan. Afghan commandos discovered a vast system of desert trenches that housed what would become the largest joint known to man in the aptly named Operation Albatross II RAF flew in and bombed the operation and special forces then moved in and torched it just for good measure.

Why I say the operation name is so aptly named is that, metaphorically speaking, an albatross is a wearisome burden, much as carrying out US drug enforcement mandates in the middle of a war is one hell of an albatross. Especially when the US presence in Afghanistan is negligible at best. The US have given up on Afghanistan, why are our and UK forces still enforcing US Drug war initiatives that our peoples and governments don't agree with. And worse why are we doing it with military personnel in foreign countries? Sure, officially on paper the request came through the Afghan "government", but come on, do even the Afghani people really refer to the puppets currently in place as their government?

Don't get me wrong, I am not opposed to the Afghan war, I support it. I am opposed to using the Afghan war as an excuse to curry favour with the US government by carrying on the US Drug War on foreign soil. When did NATO become a branch of the DEA?

Good Job Hawaii

I would like to send out my personal kudos to Hawaii for rejecting the US Federal government funding for a marijuana eradication program. The program code named "Green Harvest" (cool name actually, if only it weren't so devious) would have provided funding and allowed DEA and state police to fly around in low flying helicopters to spy on peoples personal property looking for the elusive marijuana plant.

Locals have complained that the helicopters were disturbing both due to the noise and the fact that they invaded their privacy. Citizens of any country should not have to worry about police choppers in the air hovering around their back yard. There is also little evidence that operation "Green Harvest" has done any good in years past.

DEA Agents Say Where Did I Leave My Gun?

Well this isn’t directly related to marijuana legalization issues, but since it demonstrates the over all incompetence of the Drug Warrior’s of the USA I thought it fitting that I blog on this one. According to ABC News DEA agents have a hard time keeping track of their weapons. Now I can understand the thefts, not much the DEA can do about brazen thieves who steal DEA weapons from hotel rooms while the agent is on the balcony, but some of the ways the DEA agents lost their weapons are beyond ridiculous.

Can you imagine what would happen if your average Joe had a hand gun that he left in an airport bathroom, wow what would happen to him? But for the DEA that is not a unique situation. DEA agents are apparently leaving their guns everywhere from supermarkets, to trash bins, to the roof of their car. Worse still these agents aren’t even reporting the loss of their weapons in a timely or proper fashion, they wait weeks months or sometimes years to report the loss. I think perhaps the DEA is using a little too much of the very products they are working so hard to prohibit.

Now where did I leave my bong, oh ya on the roof of my…. damn never mind.

Siding With The DEA for Once

Legalization of marijuana is an issue that I am passionate about, I believe that if marijuana were legal there would be a serious drop in crime, and under age marijuana users would decline drastically as well. However every now and then a marijuana abuser comes along and knocks the cause back on its heels. Angela Daily from Licking County Ohio is just such a person. Now she is only 16 so perhaps her stupidity can be forgiven and chalked up as a stupid teenager mistake, however the severity of what she allegedly did is so immense that I don’t think so.

This story hit the news because of a pawn transaction. A camcorder was brought into a pawn shop on loan with a tape in it, the pawn shop workers viewed the tape and saw Daily, with the help of an 18 year old unidentified male, forcing a two year old toddler to take marijuana and other unspecified drugs.

If there were ever a case for justifiable life sentence of a marijuana user this is it. First she was dumb enough to allow herself to be video taped doing this despicable act, then she was dumb enough not to make sure the tape was safe. Now on top of that the crime itself is so low that I don’t think anyone is likely to have much sympathy for this girl or her accomplice.

Forcing drugs on anyone is a horrendous act at the best of times, now add to that that this was a two year old child, and suddenly it is compounded a thousand times. Daily faces Child Endangerment and Corrupting a Youth charges, and I hope they throw the book at her. I am rarely on the side of the DEA and the US justice system on marijuana related crimes, but in this case fry her and her cohort.

Prince of Pot Hung Out To Dry

Marc Emery is in the news today again (still?), by the looks of things his plea agreement may not go through after all. The stumbling block is the Canadian Government. Apparently “Canadian judge cannot be ordered to impose a U.S. prison sentence of no release for at least five years that is stricter than Canadian law requires.”

Now this makes Canada seem like they are protesting the harsh punishment being pushed on Emery, some supporters of Emery are declaring this a partial victory, but I caution you all and advise that you look deeper into the issue, this is very bad news for Emery.
The Canadian government is not supporting Emery, they are hanging him out to dry and forcing an extradition trial where Marc Emery could end up in a US prison for the rest of his life for an activity the Canadian Government was aware of and accepted income tax payments for.

Extradition can occur in the Marc Emery trial because he has not been charged with the crime here in Canada, the Canadian Government won’t charge him because they don’t enforce the law forbidding the sale of seeds, by not charging him they are allowing the US Government to step up and ask for extradition to charge him under their laws since he sold across the boarder. In turning down this latest plea bargain they are forcing the US to bring Emery to trial instead of sweep him under the rug, its good for the cause of legalizing marijuana because the more Emery is heard the more people will realize the insanity of keeping marijuana illegal and the harm it does to the economy and the citizens of both the USA and Canada. However it opens the door for the US to further threaten the sovereignty of Canada.

The Emery case exposed to Canadian citizens the fact that the Drug Enforcement Agency, a US police agency, has an office and essentially ordered the RCMP to arrest Emery. The DEA technically has no police powers in Canada, however they act as though they do and the RCMP plays ball and acts like a good little lap dog. The US government outright admitted the Emery case was purely political and not about justice at all, the Canadian Government has fed Emery to the US like a sacrificial lamb. Where is Canada’s backbone?

DEA Puts Pressure on Landlords

In typical DEA form landlords who rent property are being threatened by the DEA. The DEA is threatening to arrest, fine, and/or seize their properties if their tenants sell marijuana. What makes this dispicable is that this is in states that have legalized medicinal marijuana and aimed at medicinal marijuana dispensaries.
