Bongeneering Project #3 - The Mother of All Bongs

I’ve been saving this one up because it is perhaps my greatest creation, and because the instructions are complex and I am lazy. MOAB derives its name from a bomb I saw featured on a special about weapons being used in the current Iraq war. MOAB (the Iraqis version) is the Mother of All Bombs or the proper name is Massive Ordinance Air Blast bomb, the most powerful satellite guided air delivered weapon in history.

So why use the name of such a destructive weapon as the name of my smoking device? Simple, my MOAB is the Mother Of All Bongs, the largest bong I have created to date, one of the most intricate

I have heard of too. Despite its size and complexity it is actually relatively simple and works on the exact same principles as any standard bong. If you’ve ever made a bong before making the MOAB is a cinch, I suppose I should start out with instructions to make a simple bong, but why bother, others have already done so. A quick and easy one is available here.

The MOAB is a multi-chambered multi-user bong, sort of a cross between a hooka and a standard two chambered bong. A standard two-chambered bong produces a smoother smoke due to the fact that the smoke is twice cooled and more of the carcinogens are removed from the smoke before you inhale. Bongs use water as a filter and coolant allowing more and more pure smoke and less and less carbon into the lungs. In theory the more chambers you have the smoother the smoke, of course the more chambers you have the harder it is to pull on it as well. Although this is a complex project really getting the materials is the hardest part. Although making this is fun, I certainly enjoyed the project, I don’t suggest using it to smoke illegal
drugs, the use of this for that purpose could get you arrested, smoke tobacco with it or don’t actually use it.

Materials:

• One 2L pop bottle (including lid)
• Several small pop bottles (determine how many people you want to have smoke at once and have one small pop bottle per user), keep the lids.
  
• A large bowl (buy one at your local head shop, or make one out of a socket and some tubing) you will need the bowl to be as large as you can get, the bigger the bowl the less frequently you will have to fill it.
• Thick plastic, glass, or rubber tube, long enough to run from the lid of the pop bottle to the bottom. The thickness would be determined by your bowl, you want the stem of the bowl to fit tightly into the tubbing forming a nice airtight seal, the thicker you can make this tubing the better, so try to find a bowl with a nice stem that allows for a lot of
  air flow.
• Some thinner (but not too thin) rubber tubing such as the kind used for fish tank filters. You need a fair amount of this to run from each of the smaller bottles to the 2L bottle.
• Some caulking.

Tools:

• A large Philips screwdriver (for those of you following the entire bongeneering series will begin to realize how important a Philips screwdriver is to have around the house)
• A lighter
• Scissors

Directions

1. On the two-litre bottle do the following:
   
1. Remove the lid of the pop bottle and remove the rubber liner from inside the lid.
2. Place the lid on a hard surface that will not burn or that you don't care if it burns
3. Heat up the screwdriver with the lighter.
4. Press the screwdriver down on the lid until you have a hole, the hole should be the same size as the large tubing.
5. Leave the lid to cool.
6. Heat up the screwdriver again and using a similar method place various holes near the top, the same number of holes as you have smaller pop bottles. The size of these holes will be the same as the thinner tubbing.
   
2. On the smaller bottles put holes to fit the smaller tubbing about ¼ of the way down using the same method as on the two litre bottle.
   
3. Put the tubing into the hole on the 2L bottle cap and allow the tubbing to run to the bottom of the 2L bottle generously caulk the tubbing so it is an airtight seal between the tubbing and the cap,do not caulk the lid on, you need this to be removable.
4. Put the thinner tubes into each of the holes on the 2L bottle just enough so they are in the bottle.
   
5. Caulk the thinner tubes onto the 2L bottle and allow to dry.
6. Run the thinner tubes to each of the smaller pop bottles and run it through the holes to the bottom of the bottles and caulk where the hoses go into the bottles.
7. Allow the caulking to dry.
8. Fill each of the bottles about half way.
9. Put the bowl into the tubing that leads out of the 2L bottle.
10. Remove the lids from any smaller bottle that you will actually be using.
11. Fill the bowl with whatever substance you will be smoking.
12. Light the bowl and inhale from the opening in the smaller bottles all at once.

Wow, this guy takes the cake. While being arrested for DUI a cop searches the car and finds a pipe. When asked the man responds "Smoking marijuana... duh!". This occurred in Florida where they have drug paraphanilia laws, so guess what happens. The guy gets busted for DUI and posession of drug paraphanilia.

The Canadian Press: Cabinet tweaks medical marijuana rules after losing court case

In typical conservative tyrannical method Cabinet has approved a new ruling on medicinal marijuana dispensaries in order to face the Supreme Court charge that limiting providers ability to just one medicinal marijuana patient is against the Charter of Rights. The new ruling doubles the number of patients that a provider can produce for. That's right, in order to seem less evil the government is now allowing growers to grow for two medicinal marijuana patients.

This is just insane, does the government really believe that two is that much better than one. The point was to get more marijuana available and stop forcing patience to go to the black market for their medicine. This new ruling completely fails to do anything other than enrage patients, providers, and the courts. This is just further proof that a conservative government only cares about looking good on paper and not about its citizens.

Marijuana potency surpasses 10 percent, U.S. says - CNN.com

Oh my, pot potency is on the rise claims CNN. CNN, you should be ashamed, this article is something Fox would pull. The only thing its missing is a "won't somebody please think of the children" rant, oh wait there it is, "The children I'm most worried about are children who are heavy users ... people who use it on a daily basis," said Dr. Lawrence Brain, a child psychiatrist in Maryland. Well Dr. Brain, why not actually think of the children and try to limit the number of children who have easy access to marijuana, why not advocate legalization and regulation.

"I'm not advocating the use of marijuana at all," he said. "But in some ways, it is out there. ... Telling them it's 10 percent -- three times more potent than what their parents smoked -- is not an argument they are likely to buy into or to even utilize in any constructive sort of way.

"I think they do what they do today. I don't think they consider or reflect on what it might have been like 30 years ago."

Gee, really? You think you will have trouble convincing people of the imaginary dangers of more potent pot? Well I wonder why that is, perhaps because they aren't all completely moronic.

Increasing potency is leading to higher admissions to emergency rooms and drug treatment programs, officials say.

What complete and utter nonsense. There is no evidence to this. Sure there has been an increase in the number of emergency room admissions where marijuana was a factor, would you like to know the real reason for this? Simple Doctor's were not asking, now they are required to ask and report any emergency room admission where the person being admitted revealed that they had used marijuana as an admission where marijuana was a factor.

And what about the claim about potency on the rise. Their claim is that in 2008 the average marijuana seized was 10.1% THC, and in 1983 it was reported at 4%. What does this tell us? Diddly squat. Strains are, and have always been all over the map, and not everything seized was being tested back in the 80's. Fluctuations wide or small in the average potency of marijuana happen due to waves of strong or weak depending on where the crops come in best, and who floods the market with cheap weed.

These type articles pop up from time to time, every now and then someone pipes up about the dangers of super powerful weed. They completely ignore all known facts about marijuana and claim our children are in immediate danger of being hopelessly addicted to these super potent strains. Just once I'd like to see main stream media counter these claims.

Man dropped marijuana bag in court - UPI.com

Oh my, can people really be dumb enough to bring their marijuana to court with them? Desmond Kelly, 28, showed up to a New York State court house for a traffic violation. When the judge asked to see the ticket he riffled through his pockets and ended up dropping a bag of ganga on a cops shoe.

The police officer saw the bag and immediately arrested Kelly. He was arraigned right there and then. Ok in my opinion no one should be arrested for simple possession, that being said, this guy deserved it. Marijuana is illegal, to bring it to court with you, for a traffic violation of all things, is just the epitome of stupidity.

Cooking With Mary Jane - a call for recipes

I have been running an ongoing series on here posting various recipes for cooking with marijuana. I am planning on continuing this series, and I have many more recipes to share, however I would like to expand upon this. I am looking for even more, I would like enough recipes to print up in a book, I have a good start to this already, but I am looking for more. What I am asking for is for my readers to submit their recipes to me. Governator Thinks Its Time to Discuss

The Governator has told the press that he believes its time to open debate on the legalization of marijuana. This announcement comes days after a poll demonstrated that 56% of Californians are pro legalization of marijuana.

I have to wonder how sincere his belief is considering his past actions. I don't believe Arnie is all that concerned with actually legalizing marijuana, however he sees the voters are all for it and realizes that his term as Governor is coming to an end and he will have to face re-election. What better way to get re-elected than to side with the people on a polarizing topic such as this. It won't matter what the rest of his policies are, it will only matter that the pro-marijuana movement has a voice.

As much as I love the idea that the marijuana legalization movement will be heard, I doubt Arnie would actually do anything. He is appeasing the masses with kind soft words that he knows all to well he will never have to backup. He never has to back up his words, because marijuana is illegally federally in the United States, and as such a state governor has no power to overturn federal law.
