In Good Company - Carlos Santana
Carlos Santana is a Rock and Roll living legend. Rolling Stones placed him at number 15 in their list of the top 100 guitar players in 2003. Born July 20, 1947 in Jalisco, Mexico he has been rocking the world since the 60's with his unique and powerful guitar stylings. He's more than a musician, he is a political activist. In this latest election he supported Obama, and he continues his activism calling for Obama to consider the legalization of marijuana. Of late his calls for legalization have plastered the news prompted me to make him the focus of this article.
Like all great musicians Carlos Santana has continually reinvented himself to keep up with the times and continue to create new and fresh music. Although in the 90's he faded out briefly, his return in 1999 was brought about by the album Supernatural which saw him team up with some of the hottest rock bands of the time and the single "Smooth" written by Matchbox Twenty member Rob Thomas hit #1 on the charts and brought Santana back into the spotlight.
Carlos Santana has more ties to marijuana then just his most recent pleas to Obama for legalization. His checkered past includes arrests for possession. August 8th 1991 he plead guilty to posession of marijuana. So obvioulsy this rock and roll legend is all about the typical steryotype of a rock star right, sex drugs and rock and roll. Well no, Santana is a religeous man, not one for the sin and debauchery that rock and roll is normally surrounded by.
Carlos Santana, Rock and Roll God, believer in god, marijuana user and activist. So remember if you believe marijuana should be legal then you are in some pretty good company.
